Addon Manager

The addon system has been updated. To add an addon you no longer use the command line.

In Tools Mode, go to View > Addon Manager. Click the header then Add > From Disk.

Now find the .addon file for the addon you want to add. Select it.

Click the header again - You'll might see a warning that your .addon file is out of date. Right click it and update the schema.

Your addon should be working properly now and your game should be visible in the local games tab.

Shared assets currently defaults to null when upgrading, even when it was previously *.*.

Not using this very specific parameter will cause gamemodes from the backend to not display assets to other users.
Locally * and . would work just fine, but most are unaware you need to use *.* on your gamemode for it to work properly now.

Just a quick one with this change.
in the editor were were able to click

File > Open Visual studio.
to quickly open it rather than opening it from the file, this was really useful
but its now gone with this recent addon update.
(is it possible to get it back since i think it made life a lot easier 🥺)

Assets are only loaded when the Addon is enabled upon starting sbox. Closing the game with a disabled addon and enabling it upon next start won't load any assets, they also don't work ingame.
Restarting sbox with the addon enabled fixes it

Particle effect assets (not sure if just these, but it's what I've noticed the issue on) aren't loading if the addon ident differs from the folder name.

(in this case, my ident is "conquest" and the folder is "sbox-conquest")

Will this be updated to convert models and maps too? not just gamemodes? I cant seems to convert my models that arent in a gamemode

I had to restart my sbox-dev after updating my addon config schema for it to re-identify all of my custom models for my map.

Where were your maps/models? If they were just in a folder in /addons/ then yeah we'll have to sort something for that.

I have them all in the addons folder, but all of the maps and models are in different individual folders instead of just a maps folder for maps and models folder for models, it helps to keep things organized

Addons will appear in the local games screen even if they don't contain code (and have the option not ticked)
