issues in recyclerview Horizontal orientation

I am trying to use it with a recyclerview horizontal orientation but it not works and only show a skeleton

What exactly does not work and where does the result differ from what you are expecting?

the skeleton is shown in horizontal layout manager, it just that the original would be gone after showOriginal()
