Double XML tags?

Hi.
As a newbie - only 5 years of experience in Java/Spring - I am asking that you have this in mind for my next words or next idea. So if something like this exists - I would be grateful if you say something (as long it is not a salvo of insults). Thank you.

Well, I am here because on our project we encountered a specially sloppy client who sends XML requests with double tags. As example, he is allowed only 1 street name under Address object, but he sent 3x, each one different. Of course, as expected, it was deserialized normally, and only 3rd value was assigned.

So that triggered business unrest. And while my architect rulled that we should not be punished for other people's sloppyness, I wanted to get to bottom of it. Read your BeanDeserializationBase class and noticed that you do not have that feature.

So I decided to write you this, just as an idea. To have something like SerializationFeature.DOUBLE_TAGS_PREVENTION, true.
EDIT: (DeserializationFeature.DOUBLE_TAGS_PREVENTION, true);

However, if I am in wrong - and this actually exists - I would be very gratefull if somebody would point me out to it.

Don't you mean DeserializationFeature?

I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement this but a name like DeserializationFeature.FAIL_ON_DUPLICATE_NAME might be better. Jackson is a JSON tool primarily with bindings to support XML, CSV etc - but our feature names should not use XML specific naming.

Ok - Jackson has StreamReadFeature.STRICT_DUPLICATE_DETECTION - maybe you could try that

AI answered that for me and that is now becoming a better way to research issues like this.

XML support STRICT_DUPLICATE_DETECTION was only added in recent releases - FasterXML/jackson-dataformat-xml#114 - so you might need to upgrade
