Main window UI suggestions

For the main volume control (left click on the task bar icon):

1. I've seen a few suggestions for the issues of mouse wheel over the window (at least I think they are), because you roll the mouse wheel to scroll the window, and then instead it 'catches' on one of the sliders and ends up changing that, which users may or may not notice or appreciate. This is not what a new user might expect. The mouse wheel to change a slider should ONLY work if the mouse wheel roll started ABOVE that slider (and not another slider), ie it was intentional; otherwise it should be ignored and instead used to scroll the window.
2. Can we have a 'compact' display option for this window, like GMail has started offering, with less height per item and per title?
3. I echo others: can we have a way to hide or show some outputs (and perhaps also from the right click menu), or at least a way to change the order of the list? I have quite a few outputs I never use and don't need to see.
