BUG: "Open containing folder" fails to open long paths but open This PC page - File Name Too Long

• I have checked that this issue has not already been reported.

• I am using the latest version of Flow Launcher.

Problem Description

BUG: "Open containing folder" fails to open long paths for files with long paths - but Everything has no issues with same paths (as I run flow launcher via Everything). To be clear, what happens when I click on "Open containing folder" for aforementioned files is that it I am taken to the main explorer window that has all my drives listed in it, rather than the specified path/location.

I can attach a recording but I prefer not to due to privacy issues, unless I can send it directly via a link to the developer's email.

To Reproduce

1. ...Search for the file that has long path
2. ...Click on Open containing folder
3. ...Instead of being taken to the containing folder, a new explorer window opens taking you to the "MY computer" explorer which lists all your drives and the desktop/documents/downloads folder...

• I Cannot generate a log as this does not produce an actual error, just fails to go to the specified path...

That's already been enabled from before.

And for example I do not face this issue with Everything, or even with Listary - although for listary if I use the file search function instead of the launcher option, I face a similar issue (access denied), but if use their regular launcher, I do not face the issue.

Could you please provide a path that can reproduce this issue? (And I think you can provide a recording as well perhaps)

And may I ask if your path is longer than 259 characters (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5188527/how-to-deal-with-files-with-a-name-longer-than-259-characters)?

May I pm you the path and recording? The reason is privacy that's all .. the path would obviously expose private information as would do the recording....

I mean can you use a test path? Like change from C://username... to D://skdkdkdk...

I do not think this problem is limited to that specific path.

Video attached** Note that in video I compare FlowLauncher with Listary, it is working with Listary's launcher (but not listery's file search where it gets access denied) - but it doesn't work with flowlauncher as you can see. let me know if the video needs improvements, etc. Thank you!

Oh and Everything has no issues with the path either - I am running flowlauncher ‘via’ Everything…

Sorry, but your steps are different than mine. You are using a shorter path. Please follow the same steps as mine. In other words make sure the file names match.

Your path is 247 characters:

@bach1590 I cannot set the file name to Askdakakvs information, aksaolaol and slaosld of care An empirical review of lfdslala lomess4.png. My system does not support that.

Whenever I tried to rename file name to that long string, the windows system automatically truncate them.

If u have winrar you can use it as a workaround to rename it - open the path in winrar, then rename file in winrar, then close winrar…there may be other ways as well
