BUG: Flow Launcher does not open after installing or upgrading to 1.20.0 due to favicon loading

• I have checked that this issue has not already been reported.

• I am using the latest version of Flow Launcher.

Problem Description

After updating to 1.20.0, Flow Launcher appears in the task manager but does not actually open, either with the default alt+space shortcut or the windows key plugin (which was enabled before the upgrade).

In addition, deleting my installation + settings and installing a new instance of Flow Launcher does not appear to fix this issue.

#3622 appears to be having a similar issue but not identical to what I'm experiencing, and I am unable to test the link provided on the thread as a potential fix:

To Reproduce

1. ...Upgrade to 1.20.0 or install 1.20.0
2. ...Try to open Flow Launcher
3. ...Nothing happens but it shows up in task manager with constant CPU usage

the same for me, i'm since yesterday doing various reinstalls, clean installs, reboot PC (using Revo Uninstaller to remove leftover data), used the prereleases and also the portable versions. When I click on the installer, it just places a shortcut on Desktop, no config screen pops up like before, it just runs in the backgroud.

Unfortunately, the pre-release version does not seem to open for me either. I do see it in task manager using up CPU and disk resources.

Just in case, I also added a Windows Defender exclusion to the folder, but doesnt appear to change the outcome.

Favorite icon loading may consume too much time currently, so please wait for enough time. We are preparing for the performance improvement.

Testing on a fresh install, the bookmarks plugin does seem to be the issue. Should deactivating it do the trick or should I go ahead and delete the whole plugin until it's updated?

I have thousands of bookmarks so I don't see it finishing within a reasonable amount of time. Is there any way that the plugin can pull from the existing browser favicon cache?

i installed it again and waited 5 mins like @DInfanger did, the settings screen popped-up. But now theres a general plugin error, Explorer, Web Searches

Tried reinstalling multiple times, Portable version acts the same, tried removing every folder and registry key altogether (AppData, Roaming, removed root folders of Flow Launcher, removed every Registry Key that I could find), so it's no plugin that causes this as well.
Also tried to wait for 15 minutes after installing and launching to be triple sure. Nothing works so far.

Tried both the stable release from the main website, along with the latest pre-release as well.

Using Windows 11 btw, 23H2 build version 22631.5335 if that helps.

Is there any progress on this or other things that I can try?

Have you tried to remove Bookmark plugin? It is in the Flow installation path.

Or you can try our pre-release version. We have already merged some core fixes.
