Saving files fail in other applications when selecting a location on SD card in File-Manager

Steps to reproduce the bug

Try to save a file from another application that let you select the location for the file by calling another application.
In my case, it was OTP applications.

Select a location on the SD card

Try to save: it'll fail (reproduced with three different applications), I didn't extracted adb logcat logs but one of them did show more details from within the application: it was permissions related

Expected behavior

It should save with no error.

Actual behavior

It fails with an error.

Additional information

Note that save doesn't fail if I select internal memory, and save to SD card doesn't fail if instead of Fossify's File Manager I pick the preinstalled ROM's file manager.

I unfortunately don't remember for now.
I tried to find an application that triggers a file manager to pick a location, but wasn't able to: those that did didn't let me select a file manager application, and Android settings don't seems to have a setting for file manager anymore, and seems to pick a built-in default, I'd say?

Note however that the phone used at the time of this report died of its old age and that I was now trying to reproduce something on an Android 15 device, versus Android 8 in the report.

Had same issue but with internal storage.
Tried to save settings backup from komikku using file manager. Clicked in komikku Settings -> Data and Storage -> Create backup (default setup in there), selected File Manager, selected /download/ on internal storage, clicked tick button(the one in right bottom corner to confirm selected folder), aaand "Couldn't create backup file". I did the same thing with default "download" manager from android and it saved as intended.

Android 9, Nokia 8, had this issue with 1.4.0 version and it still exists in 1.5.0.
