Rename app label from “Contacts” to “Fossify Contacts” for clearer identification

Feature description

Hi Fossify team,

Currently, the app is shown simply as “Contacts” in the launcher, recent apps, and system dialogs. Since the system Contacts app is also named “Contacts”, it is very easy to confuse the two. Users cannot reliably tell which app they are currently in.

I suggest renaming the app label to “Fossify Contacts” in all system-level displays. This would help users recognize Fossify Contacts and reduce the possibility of confusion.

Why do you want this feature?

For me, and likely for other users, it can be confusing not knowing which app they are in. Naming the app “Fossify Contacts” instead of “Contacts” and adding a header showing the app name at the top of the activities would help.

Alternative solution: uninstall or disable system contacts app and use Fossify Contacts only.

This will go against the common convention. For example, the Firefox browser is labelled "Firefox", not "Mozilla Firefox". The same goes for many other apps with an associated brand.

I understand the concern about following general Android naming conventions, and I see the point that many apps, like Firefox, drop the “Mozilla” from the displayed name. However, in the case of Firefox, the app name itself still clearly identifies the app as distinct, because “Firefox” is unique. In contrast, “Contacts” is extremely generic and indistinguishable from the system Contacts app or other similar apps. This leads to confusion, as users cannot reliably tell which app they are using.

If renaming the app at the system level is not feasible or preferred, an alternative could be to add a visible header at the top of the main Activities showing “Fossify Contacts”. This would make it clear which app is being used and could also be leveraged to display useful information, such as the number of contacts stored in Fossify Contacts, on the SIM card, or elsewhere.

This approach maintains clarity for users while keeping system-level conventions intact and adds additional usability benefits.

There are launchers that allow users to rename apps. I have just seen that there is such a feature request for Fossify Launcher (FossifyOrg/Launcher#161).

Adding "Fossify" to every app will also affect sorting in the launcher, which is another reason to keep the names as-is.

I also think these are the right (and more scalable!) solutions if the app icon/interface by itself doesn't seem distinct enough.
