Exit long-press list without selecting anything

Feature description

Perhaps it is already there and I did not find it, but I would like to be able to go back to the main keyboard without selecting anything after long-pressing a key.
Sometimes I long-press a key by mistake and at that point at least the default symbol is selected and typed into the text. So, I have to delete it before going ahead.
I think it would be nice if there were the possibility to exit from “long-press mode” without selecting any of the available symbols. Maybe an empty or a return field could be added at the end of the list to do that.

Why do you want this feature?

To have a cleaner and simpler user experience.

You can dismiss it by moving your finger beyond the horizontal bounds of the pop-up.

However, it seems that you have to move the finger quite far away from the pop-up. When the pop-up list is long (like in the case of long-pressing the dot, for instance) and the screen is not very large, you have to move until the very edge of the screen. That may be inconvenient.
If possible, please consider reducing the minimum distance from which the finger dismisses the pop-up.
Maybe also moving vertically could be considered.

As an additional remark, I just noticed that the pop up that comes out when one long presses "0" while writing/modifying the phone number of a contact takes the whole width of the screen. In cases like that, it is impossible to dismiss the pop up by moving the finger horizontally, and moving vertically may be indeed necessary.
