Alibaba's Wan used to be a highly competitive model because of its open weight nature, however now it has been closed and kept API only (with the team confirmed it's weights may never be released), demanding money for the services, which people would use at inertia.
Though lacking sound currently, Waver is expected to have great quality and by releasing Waver now you can basically shake up the current Alibaba-centric ecosystem and cut up their "novel business" model!
