version mismatch between External Editor and Native messaging Host on Mac

I've used "External Editor" and "External Editor Revived" before, and they're very helpful. I've just attempted to reinstall on a new Mac, and even after downloading a fresh copy of the release, I get a message in the error console when I try to invoke the tool.

stderr output from native app external_editor_revived: ExtEditorR version mismatch!: Thunderbird extension is 1.2.0 while native messaging host is 0.6.0. The request has been discarded. 

Also, after installing the extension, it became impossible to move the pop-up email editing window. This is relatively minor, but it persists even if I disable the extension.
