When a error ocour the index is not deleted

I have a custom model_to_elastica_transformer that sometimes throws errors that something is missing so i know that i need to run a command or something else and problem is tha a lot orphan indexes are generated in elastic search db. How to handle that?
Because now only if populate comand runs with success it will delete old index and change the aliasse.
