GEOS-JEDI: Items needed for an initial parallel run #380
Description
This is a list of items of things still to be worked on to get a satisfactory tag for a parallel GEOS-JEDI experiment. I am dividing this into two sections: (1) Minimal set; (2) Ready configuration.
1. Minimal Set
- fv3-jedi: replace analysis variable from (dry) air-temperature with virtual temperature.
- fv3-jedi: correct update step to properly handle ancillary variables, particularly and most specially, 3d-pressures.
- fv3-jedi: once update has been revised, investigate correctness of multiple middle-loop strategy, and redefine default to two middle-loops.
- Make sure observing system in GEOS-JEDI is fully consistent with whatever FP will be carrying at the time of GEOS-JEDI-FPP.
2. Ready Configuration
- Free GEOS-JEDI from GSI-ncdiags dependence.
- Replace GSI-based ensemble analysis with JEDI-based analysis.
