Can it run for Other species?

Thanks for the very useful tool. This tool is trained in many scRNA datasets of human cells, so i am wondering whether it can be used for cell annotation of other species like monkey, mouse?

The current model was trained only on human data, so we recommend sticking to annotating human data as cell type features can differ across species. Cross-species annotation isn't something we've rigorously tested and I would expect worse performance. It's very much on our minds right now, but we don't have a timeline on if/when we publish non-human models.

That said, some people have had decent results swapping the gene names of their mouse data to the human orthologs and using the current human model on mouse data that way. I haven't heard of any attempts with monkey.

I'd be curious to know how well it does/doesn't work if you do try the ortholog approach. :)
