Some x360 GPD files have stark black icons in properties window

Exactly what it says on the tin. Maybe something to do with transparency?

The XBE shows the icon correctly both in Explorer and in the properties window, but the GPD files only show properly in Explorer, so it's definitely something about the GPD's themselves that's causing the issue

Can you post the GPDs here? This is likely an issue specific to the Windows UI frontend, possibly because I'm manually painting the icon instead of using a label for it.

Okay, that's definitely an issue with the IExtractIcon implementation. It looks like the icon mask is getting inverted somehow? (Explorer generally shows the thumbnail, not the icon, unless you shrink it to small icon view.)

What I am struggling to understand is why some of them are perfectly fine and others exhibit the issue. It has to be something about how either the icon is being parsed or how it's being displayed, surely, but I haven't been able to narrow it down. I thought it might be something like having transparency, but nope

maybe something to do with a format change made at some point? I don't know enough about the internal workings of the file to be able to tell really

On Win10 1809 LTSC IoT Enterprise, all of the icons appear correctly in the Properties dialog...

What Windows version are you using?

Disregard, it's a Windows issue, found a completely unrelated file format doing the exact same thing

I think it's still work looking into to see if there's a way to work around it, so I'm going to reopen this for now.
