Smaller images distorted in GitBook but correct in published content

In GitBook, when viewing or editing content, images that are smaller than the width of the text column expand to fill the column.

They display correctly in the published content.

While it's a relief that the published content looks fine, it's a bit distracting and frightening to see the distorted images when viewing and editing in GitBook.
