Inline blocks

Hello,
Is there a way to add code blocks inline? Just changing content of code sippet inside text paragraph without the 2 column layout that's applied by default. If not – is there a sensible way of extending the code for said functionality?

You can disable the split-view by default, so the code goes over the full length. I know no way to disable split-view at all though.
