21_rssviewer_xxe: runtime crash

I have issues deploying the labs.

For example with https://github.com/GoSecure/xxe-workshop/tree/master/21_rssviewer_xxe

I can build successfully:

But the container will crash at runtime:

Would that be because the application is too old and unmaintained and the gradle version too recent?

Would that be better to build the app inside the container especially if it requires old build tools and java versions?
