Component ID is changing from {id} to {id}-2 during the storage process

I'm using the template manager plugin to manage my storage. Why might this be happening? Is anyone else having issue with the template manager?

Some clues:

1. The storage:load and storage:store events are called multiple times
2. The component ID is correct the first few times the storage:load event fires. Then the last few times this event fires the ID is changed
