Open collapsed layers as I am dragging elements inside

In my application I have the blocks panel and the layers panel (both custom panels) visible at the same time.

While I drag an element into de canvas, it shows with a yellow border the layer it is going inside of... but only if it is not some other collapsed parent layer. I would like it if as I am dragging an element it would open the parent layers, so I can always see the yellow border.

Any ideas? Thanks!
