Align Patterns catalogue 2.0 launch with SCI for AI publication

Context

The SCI for AI standard is currently in public feedback and targeting Q2 2026 for publication. Both the Software Standards Working Group and the Green AI Committee have referenced the patterns catalogue in relation to SCI for AI — the patterns serve as the practical "how to reduce" companion to the "how to measure" specification.

The team agreed that the revised catalogue should launch ahead of the SCI for AI publication so it can be referenced as a complementary resource. The summer break typically causes a significant drop in engagement, so any launch should happen before that.

What needs to happen

• Confirm the SCI for AI target publication date with the Software Standards Working Group
• Work backwards from that date to set milestones for the patterns catalogue:
  • Categorization and subcategories finalised
  • Prototype reviewed and iterated
  • Pattern content (merges, new AI patterns) integrated
  • Site built and populated
  • Launch and communications
• Coordinate with Russ on Green AI Committee timeline for AI pattern contributions
• Ensure the AI patterns are reviewed and expanded before the catalogue launches

Acceptance criteria

• A concrete timeline with milestones is published and shared with all stakeholders
• Catalogue launches at least 2 weeks before SCI for AI publication
• AI-specific patterns are reviewed, updated, and expanded in the catalogue at launch
