Minimum number of cells for getMarkerFeatures

Has anyone else found that when doing pairwise comparisons of small groups of cells (less than 100 cells) using getMarkerFeatures results in no up- or down-regulated regions? I have tried multiple cutoffs, and gone back to even change the GroupCoverages parameters, but I am still seeing no differential regions between groups that biologically should have differences. Has anyone else experienced this and found a minimum amount of cells to get good differential regions?
