build a RAG using HelixDB in rust

Sorry for noob question. I want to build a RAG software in rust for content search on local pictures. Is HelixDB the right DB for this kind of app? and any LLM suggestion to work well with HelixDB? If you have any rust sample code or tutorial that will be great.

Sounds like it should work just fine. You can use ColPali to embed the images into vectors, then store the images as base 64 on the vectors metadata.

Any LLM should work fine. You can see how to call your DB instance at our Rust SDK

I got the base64 for my image, but how can I store base64 and other information(picuture description from llm, picture path and etc) to helixDB? Another question is will db files be saved to local disk? I may have several thousands pictures and would like to save to disk and load from disk when app is loading

Essentially you'd define a vector schema like so:

V::PictureVector {
    picture: String // this is the base64
    description: String
    picturePath: String
}

Then when you insert it you'd do:

QUERY insertPic (vector: [F64], picture: String, description: String, picturePath: String)
    AddV<PictureVector>(vector, { picture: picture, description: description , picturePath: picturePath })
    RETURN "success"

Everything gets saved to disk, yes.
