Game added on steam does not launch from steam

I have the flatpak versions of heroic and steam and after setting the steam path properly in the heroic settings menu and having the game added on steam, it does not launch from steam.

I tried adding "flatpak" in from of the rest of the game command (run ...), it did nothing
Forcing proton experimental did nothing as well.

what should i do?

For me, the fix using both the Steam Flatpak and Flatpak version of the Heroic Game Launcher) was modifying the default launch options to:

Target

/usr/bin/flatpak-spawn

Start In

/home/USER

Launch Options

--host env DISPLAY=$DISPLAY XAUTHORITY=$XAUTHORITY flatpak run com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl --no-gui "heroic://launch?appName=5daeb974a22a435988892319b3a4f476&runner=legendary" (Needs changing depending on the game.)

On my side:

• Steam is flatpak
• Heroic is flatpak
• I want steam to run a GoG game installed via Heroic
• Wayland session, no X11 server on my system

Pre-requisites:

1. Steam flatpak must be able to "Talk" to org.freedesktop.Flatpak (non-default as of writing)
   • flatseal is the easiest way to set it, persistently
   • persistently, in terminal: flatpak override --talk-name=org.freedesktop.Flatpak com.valvesoftware.Steam
     • Note you may need sudo if Steam wasn't installed with --user
   • temporary: flatpak run --talk-name=org.freedesktop.Flatpak com.valvesoftware.Steam
2. Note if the game has auto-sync enabled in Heroic, it will hang until sync is done
3. If you're not using X11 (modern & non-custom distros like Fedora, likely Ubuntu) but Wayland, setting DISPLAY cause an error

FYI to understand why @Internetperson-dev 's command didn't work for me, I've run the actual flatpak-spawn Steam shortcut command from the terminal:

( FTR the intent is: Steam's sandbox wants to spawn Heroic's flatpak, with the intent to run one of its games )

Need to DBUS session access:

$ flatpak run  --command=/usr/bin/flatpak-spawn com.valvesoftware.Steam --host flatpak run com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl --no-gui "heroic://launch?appName=1375812220&runner=gog"

Hint: --host only works when the Flatpak is allowed to talk to org.freedesktop.Flatpak
