cl-charms running charm-timer high cpu usage

while running the example from the git repo,
sbcl --noinform --load timer.fasl --eval '(progn (charms-timer:main) (exit))'
my manjaro i3 4.19.16-1-MANJARO has 100% cpu usage and i can hear the fan working loudly
Is this a known issue?
Is there a fix?
