If it's designed to work with an actual SNES then I don't see why not.

If you are only buying a programmer for this project then a cheap USBASP from ebay will do the job. Just make sure you get one with a 6 pin cable or adapter. There seems to be two styles of adapter on ebay, one with a narrow 6 pin connector and one with a slightly wider one. Go for the narrow one. USBASP drivers can be obtained from the official page: https://www.fischl.de/usbasp/

Software is a bit of a minefield, so my recommendation for Windows users is AVRDUDESS.

Thanks, is the PCB complete? I see there was just a new revision.

The new revision is to allow the straight pin SNES sockets to fit properly and fix up some of the component values on the silkscreen.
I don't plan on doing any more than that.

I have 8bitdo's wireless SF30 controller with SNES wireless adapter dongle and it works great with PadSwitcher64.

That controller with SNES wireless dongle is a bit hard to get these days. I managed to get one recently as 8bitdo had a small batch of them available on their Aliexpress store but those were sold out quickly.
