hi @VolkerArt ! thank you for writing to us. I'm Caro, a Product Manager for Tella.

You are right that when importing, Tella doesn't give you the option to rename (with the autogenerated random name that you see) or to keep the original file name. For context, this was coded as you see it because other users wanted to remove the original file name, for security reasons.

We are actively fundraising to improve the whole "import" feature, including adding a bulk import and refactoring the Settings so that users cand decide to:

• keep/strip file metada (like EXIF information)
• keep original name/rename

We hope we can get the funds to implement this soon, I'd ping you here as soon as we are able to add it to our roadmap.

By the way, yes! we are in the process of updating the FOSS version of Tella: https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/35401 hopefully it will be available very soon!
