2025-September-13 version released

  • Fixed NTSC button did not proper highlight NTSC components
  • Added commandline option for setting data root folder, and data folder can now be moved to anywhere
  • Added fall-back path for data root folder, if application has been launched from Visual Studio
    • If no Data folder exists in same folder as executable file, then it will fall-back to ..\..\..\Data which is available in the downloaded source package
  • Changed folder structure and moved Commodore-Repair-Toolbox.xlsx into the Data folder
    • All Excel data files will now have data root folder as relative base reference instead of previous the executable file location
• Tools
  • Bundled my newly developed Oscilloscope Network Capture Windows tool, which can be a help for the ones having a network connected oscilloscope, if you want to contribute with new baseline measurements for CRT

Important

Due to folder restructuring, the older releases from 2025-August-2 and backwards will fetch all files again (if you choose to update from online source), and place the folders in same level as the executable file. As such this will still work fine, but it will be a little messy with duplicate data, so if you do not have a lot of custom data, then I recommend to fetch a complete new copy from GitHub, as this is the easiest way for clean-up.

Hello, I saw the email notification about the new version, saw the caution about older releases from 2025 August 2 and backwards so downloaded from Github the new 2025 September 13 version and extracted it to a new folder.
I ran the executable and it said an update was available. Strange I thought, so let it update anyway and closed the app once it had done all it's downloading and restarted the app. It again says a new update is available.....

This is what it says in the About tab about my version that I am using. I guess there is a bug somewhere.

Thanks a lot for reporting this, and I have fixed it. Actually the specific error with "newer version available" was an easy backend fix, but once that was fixed then I noticed an application issue with the "check for newer data from online source", so two errors fixed :-)

You're welcome, I appreciate the time you have taken to do this and your Commodore Repair Toolbox, it has been extremely helpful to have it as a guide whilst fixing my first C64 that I have had as an adult. I never would have believed as a kid with a new C64 that I would still be playing around with them 40 years later :)
