Link transparency issue

I have been trying to embed a link within an image so that when users hover their cursor over the image, they can click the link and it would open up in a different tab. The issue I am running into is that the image I want (which is in the Image URL filed) gets replaced by an image from the link (in the Link Href field). I have experimented with various transparency modes but nothing seems to fix it. Can anyone help?
