How to open Hubs room in VR

I am trying to open my hubs room on my Google Cardboard VR headset (which is basically my phone acting as a VR headset). But I can't seem to open it on my smartphone in VR mode. I click http://hub.link/ and when I type the code, it just expires and opens the room in normal view. What should I do?
