Why does Hubs rewrite the URL bar and history?

I assume there is a good reason to be rewriting the history in the browser, but in practice, it is very annoying. As I mentioned in #5145 it messes up the ability to reload the page and have it go where it went when you first came to the page. It also tends to create an unintuitive number of history entries, so hitting back and forward doesn't behave as expected sometimes. And then other things are dropped, like when I move between waypoints in one room.

Why not just leave it as is?
