Hi guys, thanks very much for the project. It is great!
I need the 'Resume Analysis' module. Could I define the job responsibilities and standards? And if I want to add a sales position, how should I proceed?

The Resume Analysis module currently supports the following predefined Job Categories, Because it is mainly made for college project so (Only IT Jobs are included) :

• Software Development and Engineering
• Data Science and Analytics
• Cloud Computing and DevOps
• Cybersecurity
• UI/UX Design
• Project Management

However, if your desired role (like Sales) isn't listed above, you can still analyze resumes for it using the "Use Custom job description" option. This feature allows you to paste any job description — such as for a Sales Executive or Marketing Manager — and the system will compare it against the uploaded resume.

For example, if you provide a job description for a Sales role, the analyzer will identify matches and gaps across education, skills (e.g., communication, CRM, negotiation), and relevant experience. It then generates a match percentage and gives personalized feedback on areas of alignment and misalignment, just like this:

Job Match Analysis
Match Percentage: 10%
Misalignment: Resume lacks CRM, negotiation, and proven sales experience...
Recommendations: Add concrete examples, gain relevant experience, and update resume accordingly.

So yes — you can define job responsibilities and standards via the custom input. If you're trying to build a new predefined category for Sales inside the system, that would require modifying the backend codebase and adding corresponding templates.

Could you please clarify exactly what you want to do:

• Do you want to just analyze resumes for a Sales job using custom input?
• Or do you want to extend the platform to permanently include a "Sales" category like the existing ones?

However, in the future, I’m definitely interested in exploring how to add a permanent "Sales" job category to the system, just like the existing IT roles. I understand that it would require modifying the backend code and templates, so I may reach out later for guidance on that process.

Hey, Thank you for your email. I saw the option 'Use Custom job description', but it only works for one-time use. I hope it can be adjusted to enable 'Job Categories and Roles' and support editing functions such as adding, deleting, and modifying—e.g., in this way, the range of adaptation might be wider. Additionally, when creating a new role, besides providing a specific job description, perhaps there’s more to consider: what constitutes good standards and what does not (this requirement might be a bit much). You're right — the "Use Custom Job Description" feature is currently designed for one-time use only. It's intended to help users quickly test resumes against any specific role (like Sales or Marketing) without modifying the core set of categories.

What’s Currently Supported

(Since the app is already quite heavy and Streamlit doesn’t support real-time UI refresh easily, adding dynamic editable categories isn’t straightforward right now)

• Predefined static job categories like Software Engineering, Data Science, DevOps, etc. — hardcoded in the backend
• One-time Custom Job Description input to flexibly analyze any role
• Resume-vs-role matching is powered by prompt injection into an LLM (via Streamlit), with no persistent data layer or backend database yet

What You’re Suggesting (and yes, we’re open to contributions, if you can do the same working!)

Your idea to support editable Job Categories and Roles — including:

• Add/Edit/Delete functionality
• Persistent saving of new roles
• Ability to define and reuse standardized job requirements

It would definitely make the system more powerful, scalable, and useful in real-world HR or ATS use cases.

To achieve this, we would need to extend the app’s architecture with:

1. Backend Database – for storing custom job categories and role definitions
2. Admin UI – to let users manage roles directly from the interface
3. Prompt Engineering Layer – to format prompts dynamically using user-defined standards

To answer your last question — no, we don’t need to modify the underlying model. But yes, to support persistent, editable roles, we’d need significant backend enhancements beyond the current Streamlit-based demo.

This is definitely a direction I’d love to explore in future updates. For now, the app is a lightweight proof of concept built around LLM prompt engineering with fixed role templates.
