Agorae is a knowledge management platform designed as a debate place.

Credits

Project management: Jean-Pierre Cahier, Aurélien Bénel.

  • v0 (2000-2002): Manuel Zacklad and Jean-Pierre Cahier created the 'KBM' model, a knowledge-based marketplace where people could publish courses (for example) and describe them using different dimensions. It was prototyped as a Web site querying an existing server which complied with Topic Maps. To overcome the limits of Topic Maps, The team proposed the Hypertopic model which added the notions of 'entity' and 'viewpoint' . With the help of Jean Caussanel, they implemented the Hypertopic model in a project designed for France Telecom: 'Agora-FT'.

  • v1 (2003): The same team generalized the approach in a software called 'Agorae'.

  • v2 (2005-2008): L'Hédi Zaher rewrote Agorae as a Hypertopic client and enhanced participative features.

  • v3 (2009): Chao Zhou developed a new version which features authentication, multitenancy, service aggregation and Atom feeds.
