Overview

Virtually every application today has lots of data that can be used to enhance the application user’s insights into the domain of the application. To tap into this value and provide it to their users, the application developer needs to provide a means of showing this raw data through analytics and visualizations.

Whether providing a guided exploration of the analysis through authored fixed dashboards, or providing a more free-form analytic exploration environment to allow their users to find their own insights, Dynamic Dashboard Embedded is offered as a Bluemix service to provide application developers with a way to add visualization and analytic capabilities to their application.

This demo application demonstrates the capabilities of the DDE service and the API behind it.

When the reader has completed this code pattern, they will understand how to:

Flow

  1. User creates an application
  2. Application is connected to a source of data
  3. User configures Dynamic Dashboard Embedded to read their data source, and integrates DDE into their application

Included components

  • Cloud Foundry: Build, deploy, and run applications on an open source cloud platform.
  • IBM Dynamic Dashboard Embedded: Provides developers the ability to embed a visualization platform directly into their application.
  • Swagger: A framework of API developer tools for the OpenAPI Specification that enables development across the entire API lifecycle.

Featured technologies

  • Analytics: Analytics delivers the value of data for the enterprise.
  • Cloud: Accessing computer and information technology resources through the Internet.
  • Node.js: An open-source JavaScript run-time environment for executing server-side JavaScript code.
