No recompilation when making changes to copybooks

Hello Liam,

We have been using SourceOrbit for some time now and are very satisfied with the tool. However, we have noticed one thing regarding the recompilation of objects in connection with copybooks.

I have three programs and a service program that include the same copybook, consisting of various data structures.

When I make a change to the data structure in the copybook (add/change/delete attributes), I believe there should be a dependency on the above-mentioned programs/service programs and a recompilation should take place. However, this is currently not the case. The Impact Report also shows no dependency between the programs and the copybook.

I tried this once before with Better Object Builder, and we were able to control it via the Rules.mk files. Is there a way to take this into account here as well?

I have also noticed that dependencies on copybooks are not always generated on migrate.

@Merbag-CH-APP did you manually create your Rules.mk or did you use Source Orbit to generate them. If so how?

When using Better Object Builder, we created the rules.mk manually and entered the necessary dependencies.

@Merbag-CH-APP in that case, make sure the copybook is in the list of dependencies.

MYPGM.MODULE: mypgm.sqlrpgle myhdr.rpgleinc

then if myhdr.rpgleinc is modified the MYPGM module and program will be recompiled as well

@edmundreinhardt We use SourceOrbit with gmake. no rules.mk. How can we achieve this with generated makefile?

If the generated makefile does not include the copybook on the dependency list as above. then this is indeed an issue that should be fixed.
If you could include a trivial example. That would help the developers.
