plotParameterProfiles figure

Hi,
In Matlab when I run profile likelihood (plotParameterProfiles.m) in the figure there are red circles and squares, which indicate MS-convergence & divergence.
Could you please explain the meaning and why they are displayed in seemingly arbitrary positions
