API connection stuck at "login" - partly works, e.g. no performance date

I upgraded to the last icinga2web docker container that included the v1.8.0 release. (I had been running v1.7.1 with hand-picked PRs before).

Now everything seems to work just like before but I suspect most of the data I run my checks on is stale from before the update.
(I can tell there are no more InfluxDB performance counters)

Is there anything I can do to further debug the API connection?
(I am already using the icingacli vspheredb daemon run --debug)

OK, I started fresh - deleted and recreated the database and the daemon stays stuck at [api] initializing server 1: https://icinga%40vsphere.local@vcenterappliance.murtfeldt.de ☹️
