This is an upstream issue, affecting all software that accesses YouTube, whether by API, like yt-dlp, or by scraping the web page, like NewPipe (which PipePipe is based upon) or FreeTube.

The issue at hand, is partially due to YouTube's unstable bot-blocking algorithm, and partially due to them gradually breaking older streaming methods on YouTube, and support for the current method, SABR, is not yet fully ready, though being worked upon.

Yeah it is some kind of anti-bot check. Should recover after some time.

Despite the error message, my ip is not blocked.

At the exact same time that I'm supposedly blocked, I can open these videos from another device that has never had a YouTube or google account logged in (work device), another newpipe fork (tubular) and an incognito window from this device.

My wife is also actively watching different youtube videos, using pipepipe, from her phone, from the same IP, without issue...

I'd appreciate either an updated error message that's less misleading, contains the exact reply your seeing from youtube, or that has a link to more specific information to explain why the devs think this is happening.

Otherwise it might be worthwhile to look into this again, because it appears to be a misdiagnosis.

@eldorel 403 can be false positive, but NotLoginException not. Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot is exact the message we get from YouTube API.

I just tested with a blocked IP with VPN and I got the same result in NewPipe latest version.

Please open a new issue so I can look into your problem further. This issue is related to 403 error and they are completely different.

Will do.
I reopened this one thinking it was the same issue.

For the record signing in did fix my problem, so it's probably still related to YouTube bot detection, but they're using some other method for fingerprinting clients instead of just banning an IP.
