[Bug] #Shorts videos on YT are playing with frozen image

Describe the bug

On Philips Android TV 8, when playing vertical videos such as YouTube Shorts, the audio plays correctly and the video timeline progresses normally, but the image stays frozen on a frame from a previous video. Over this frozen frame, animated visual artifacts appear (e.g., pixelation, noise, ghosting).
This issue is present in version 4.4.0 and has also occurred in several earlier versions.

Frequency

Always, reproducible every time with Shorts or vertical-format videos.

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Open a YouTube Short or vertical video.
2. Observe that the video frame is stuck while the audio plays.
3. Note the presence of artifacts and frozen previous-frame imagery.

P.S. Just checked NewPipe v0.27.7 and shorts are playing correctly.

You can check if 4.5.0 fix it. We made another change and might solve the issue.
