We need to develop memes as a powerful communication tool for InnerSource. While our community members are incredibly dedicated and professional (myself included - and I mean this in the best possible way!), there's immense value in incorporating more lighthearted, engaging forms of communication.
Memes can serve as an effective medium to:
- Communicate common InnerSource challenges and solutions in a relatable way
- Break down complex concepts into digestible, shareable content
- Create emotional connections with our target audience
- Spark conversations and increase engagement within the community
This initiative isn't just about creating funny images - it's about developing a new communication channel that can help us reach people who might be intimidated by or uninterested in traditional documentation and formal presentations.
The path forward could include:
- Creating templates that capture common InnerSource scenarios
- Developing a shared repository of InnerSource-related memes
- Establishing guidelines for appropriate and effective meme creation
- Encouraging community members to contribute their own memes
