Description
I am a huge fan of custom zombies, as much as Noahj456 is and I have an M4 Mac mini 32GB ram, game run off internal SSD, ive noticed when playing custom zombies pretty much every map some a lot worse than others when I shoot it kinda does micro stutters/freezes sometimes you hear the gun continuously firing, sometimes when turning around too it does this, I assume its because of the way it translates to Mac on the fly, I have tried to replicate the open source for bo3macfix to see if there was a way to render everything/feed the code/translatebefore it even launches the custom zombies that way it behaves as flawless as vanilla maps do, 120 solid everything high. I did try to limit my fps to 60 that did not help, I tried lowering render distance, image quality to 1080p, everything to low just to see if it was hardware issue. It made no difference and as soon as I turned all my settings back up generally ran at 100-120. but that's the thing if I set my fps to 60 it will do those stutters and go down to like 50 from 120 so in a second im not sure if its actually freezing or its fps perhaps both. I tried to convert the .ff files and navmesh extracted etc BUT I had no idea how much more went into this project the more code I read and going around in circles not even knowing if what I wanted was possible, an option to precode everything the Mac needs to read the custom zombies file rather than on the go. So I gave up on that, I then tried various other methods, crossover, which ran on DXMT but really poorly, to be unbiased I ran the same custom zombies map on everything I tried... I also tried parallels which actually ran certain custom zombies fairly well but it had render issues but even at the really heavy maps I tried on it the smoothness like butter and no micro stutters/freezing felt great, in order for me to try crank up the parallels performance a little and some maps ran great some ran awful, vanilla ones ran the worst which I don't understand, anyways with T7 patch I never realised it had VM detection. Which now that I think about it, it makes total sense... SO... I tried to run bo3enhanced. faced similar issues. I believe I tried another one too, oh yeah clean ops I believe it was called, all 3 was a bust so that was parallels out the window... I then did some research into wine and how it works and also apples gaming port, weird thing is their v3.0 beta 4 runs bo3 well in the lobby at least but as soon as you boot up any mode any map it crashes, v2.1 and 1.1 did not even open them, I tried crossover along with whisky, VMware fusion, you name it. I use my Mac mostly for work and I gave my old pc away to my brother before I got Mac assuming everything would be all good, I did read about the bo3macfix patch beforehand so I was not worried. Now there is a lot of brains and work behind bo3macfix its actually impressive how well it works, Its just kind of an issue the stutters/micro freezes/audio bugs on a regular day to day every single game many times has gotten me killed before by being frozen next to a zombie... Again I think bo3macfix is a fantastic idea and amazing development behind it, but... NEEDLESS TO SAY I spent about a week trying to figure out something else due to this kinda game breaking bug... so hopefully at some point there's some way around it. I am not sure if there is as I understand the m series runs off rosetta and bo3macfix runs of wine and cod2map navmesh conversions on the fly and all that so its like a simulator inside another simulator or emulator if you will... ANYWAYS just thought I would share my story with you... Next thing I am going to try is downgrade to an earlier version of bo3macfix and see if there is any difference, again I understand its in beta and this post was not to have a go saying its bad, this is just my honest feedback to hopefully help in some way! thank you...
