Hello, I followed step by step the tutorial for matlab with all the software versions required, I've made it to the last step: so I successfully opened the simulink ex737cruise after exporting it for the Matlab 2020 version, but I realized I don't have exactly the same thing for the JSBSim S-function block as what is shown in the tutorial : Is there any explanation for this? Last step is opening the matlab file TestJSBSim but it's not working for me: |

Also I tried renaming the 737_cruise.xml file to ex737cruise_io.xml and putting it on the root but I still have the same issue |

So what do you think happens in a real aircraft if you trim it say for straight and level flight and then you input some aileron deflection without changing any of the other controls? JSBSim standalone or via Simulink will model your input to the ailerons with all the other controls fixed (if you don't change them) and the resulting trajectory. |

Yes, but what I am understanding (maybe it's wrong?) is that whatever I put in the 8 input boxes I showed, it will always lead to an unstable behaviour unless it is exactly the inputs corresponding to the trimmed state. |

But what happens with a real aircraft when you trim it for say straight and level, i.e. set the 8 inputs to some specific combination that gives you straight and level flight at some altitude and airspeed, and then you simply change one of them, e.g. change the aileron input? For example in a real aircraft say you want to change from straight and level flight to a level turn at the same airspeed. You would need to adjust at a minimum 3 controls from their straight and level trim values, i.e. the aileron, elevator and throttle. The pilot, or in this case your software would need to figure out what values you need to adjust these 3 inputs to in order to prevent a spiral dive/climb.
It will do exactly that. But you seem to be assuming or working under the assumption that you could simply change for example 1 control, e.g. the aileron and that the rest of the flight would be stable. |
