The Missed

VSCode support multiple different file-systems; Including custom file system via contributions from the vscode api. It would be great if this extension could support these for document generation too.

The Solution

To enhance this extension to support custom extensions; Practically speaking this would be mean sync the content to temporary folder, prior to executing the document generation.

Anything Else?

I have experimented doing this using CoPilot and Opus 4.5 with some success; Is this a feature you are interesting in supporting? Would you welcome an AI generated PR that supports this feature?

Non of the devs are working on virtual file systems, yet I am open to AI generated PRs if the changes are as small as possible and non-intrusive to current features.

Hi James.

I have been iterating on the feature in my fork. Some manual code changes as well as copilot. It seems to be a non breaking change thus far.

I will let you be the judge of the size/complexity of the PR.

I will share it with you mid week.
