Intermittent postgres сonnection failures

There are intermittent connection failures to Postgres when using sqlx-ts v0.35.0.
The connection is made using a hostname defined in the hosts file.

There were no changes to how connections are established. The updates in 0.35.0 were limited to:

Crate upgrades

Support for table expressions

I’m going to run a set of sample SQL queries (around 14–20) to check whether I can reproduce the issue.

I did notice that cargo update bumped the minor version of bb8, so I’m wondering if that might be causing the flakiness.

@Leo5878 I’ve tried to reproduce the issue on v0.35.0, but I haven’t been able to trigger it 🙏

I set up 21 different SQL queries covering a variety of cases

I repeatedly ran sqlx-ts against a local Postgres instance to check for the same connection issue you reported

Could you share more details about your local environment setup for sqlx-ts?
Are you also running it against a local database?

Postgres runs locally in a Docker container. The connection to the container uses a hostname specified in the hosts file. DNS resolution and caching are handled by dnsmasq. I confirmed there’s no issue on the network or local DNS side. If i put 127.0.0.1 directly in .env, the problem doesn’t occur. It feels like the domain isn’t resolved in time, or it tries to connect somewhere else - i don’t also quite understand how that happens.

Could you confirm that the issue no longer exists if you install 0.34.0?

No! The error is only resolved in version 0.31.0. I’m on Arch Linux
