We should have a storyline system like fire emblem, where there are cute scene snippets between each level bringing in a story, but the story and gameplay don't actually heavily affect each other too much even though they're still connected.

Idea;

Year 2100

Travel within a galaxy is doable, travel between galaxies still takes too long under normal conditions. Humans are running out of phosphate on earth, which is a problem because plants need phosphate to grow. Luckily humans have found a planet to extract phosphate from in another galaxy. In order to get there, technology has been found where black holes consisting solely of dark matter can be altered to be a wormhole to anywhere else in the universe, these are extremely rare and humans have only found one in the galaxy so far which they are using to extract phosphate. The alterations to the dark matter black holes are also only one time.

Another alien race (zotarians) in the milky way has a similar story, they require nitrate for their organisms to grow. They have also found a dark matter black hole that they use to extract nitrate from another galaxy.

Both races, are running out of phosphate and nitrate respectively at their wormhole locations when another dark matter black hole has been found. Both humans and zotarians require this warp point to survive, but it can only be set one location. So war erupts.

And for the cliche part, humans have been creating super humans (with a low success rate), one of the successes is our character. In order to utilize these super human's potential, terminal fighters have been created as their weapons. The key dilemma that the player will face is whether to use immoral methods to wage this war or not, such as biological weapons, automated drones, chemical weapons, all of which kill combatants effectively, but also non combatants without discrimination.

How serious do you guys want the story to be? Do you guys want it to be super serious like Dying Light, TombRaider, Walking Dead. Or something that have it serious and funny moments like Phoenix Wright, Fire Emblem. Or something that is a lot more chill, fantasy like Pokemon, Battle Block Theater?
