Revision and hash

Total noob question, but I genuinely for the life of me can't figure out how to get the version number and hash as referenced in [Getting Started. I've Googled around for a hot minute and genuinely am not sure how to find that information. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, just my two cents, probably wouldn't hurt to add information that to the "Getting Started" page in case there are others like myself who aren't GitHub savvy and aren't sure what any of that means.

I actually kinda figured it out. More or less. Or at least I got there in the end. Still, a little bit in the "Get Started" to provide some clarity for others who are less verse in such things would be nice.
