How about provide libagar with meson WrapDB database

I want to try libagar but use meson on most project and want to ask about how you think anout create meson scenario and wrap to simplify reuse library?

I think offering cmake and/or meson build scripts could be a nice ease of use feature, i can contribute it.

I don't use meson, but I prefer cmake which i think is similar, and is trivial to use, and I assume a script using Meson would be as well, and I know meson can also use Cmake files or cmake syntax for dependencies, as well as its own language.

Have you use meson to build agar yet?

Please don't waste time on it! I have a cmake buildsystem for Agar which is almost completed :) It will be
committed to the repository (and included in the 1.7.1 release) probably this weekend, next week at the latest.

Last night I used an AI tool and iteratively worked through adding meson build configurations to libagar. It seems to import and work.

Use the meson-build branch.

A few source changes were required around importing string.h and limits.h, but I really think that can be avoided. I'm only building on Linux right now but I'll be testing on Mac soon.

Meson has the ability to import CMake projects, but using the magical WrapDB package management really requires a build system conversion.

Anyone can feel free to use it. I'll continue to refine it. Don't submit it to WrapDB under my fork, though. If you want to fork it and do that, feel free.

I don't know why I'm so allergic to CMake. It's just never made sense to my brain :(

Your build files have been imported and included in the 1.7.1 release with the following changes:

• Use install_symlink() to create symlinks for the top-level convenience headers (e.g., gui/gui_pub.h into include/agar/gui.h).
• Added the few missing tests (such as have_xkb, have_dyld`, etc.)
• Use booleans for options and check for inter-option dependencies (e.g., freetype is always disabled if gui is disabled). Made "sdl" and "sdl2" options mutually-exclusive.
• Renamed string.h and limits.h in core/ as a quick work-around header conflicts. I think a better fix would be to remove . and ../core from the include directories (internally, agar sources always use #include <agar/core/foo.h> and never #include <foo.h>).

I'm pleased to hear that. I do think it benefits from the lessons learned since CMake first came out. It's also more language-agnostic (although clearly C/C++ focused).

Regarding WrapDB I don't know what their requirements are.

I found some more prior art for inspiration (not on the WrapDB task, but just Meson in general). XFCE has been converting some of their builds from autotools to Meson. For example:

You can drop a .wrap file under the meson-standard subprojects directory and it can download and build versions greater than 1.7.1 (when meson was introduced) #92 (comment)
