Debugger stuck when write to IO

I have the following function which I tried to debug

When debugger reaches the line write(iob64_encode, file_content) and I hit u, the debugger never reaches the next line.

Running the code without debugger does not get stuck there.

It's very possible that this just runs too slow for you to notice it progressing. How large is file_content?

You might want to either temporarily switch to compiled mode before stepping over that line (by hitting C) or add write to the list of compiled methods with for example the following code:

for meth in methods(write)
    push!(Debugger.JuliaInterpreter.compiled_methods, meth)
end
