The flexibility of the CFTimes date time comes also at some cost. When merging data from different sources using different time origins and time units, the corresponding merge time vector is potentially not a concrete type as there is no implicit conversion to a common time origin or internal time unit as it is the case for Julia's `DateTime`. In some cases, the user might decide to explicitly convert all time to a common time origin and internal time unit for optimal performance.
