Downgraded dependencies cause massive performance impact in Ring tests

I just realized that the Downgrade CI testing action takes much longer than a regular testing action almost entirely due to the combinations.jl test item for Ring, which takes around 15 minutes alone. This seems very weird and probably worth investigating to figure out what's going on.
